We thought we have seen everything before China team stunned us on 14 Sept. Unlike the night before, we could feel the heat of the competition along the highway. Cars were moving, crowd was forming. Then, mistakenly, we took the way to Putrajaya Water Sports Complex, instead of our original destination at Persiaran Tasik. It turned to be a blessing. The water sports complex was much closer to the stage, where we could hear the music playing for the performance.

China team showed their muscles as the old master of fireworks. They cleverly arranged the explosion to be done at different height, keeping the smokes away from  blocking the view of fireworks. The fireworks formed different patterns, with great timing and precision. One thing which was bad- raining. Too bad we had brought only one umbrella. Not much photos had been taken.

 China team performed under terrible weather condition. We could see from the movement of the smokes that the wind was strong.

We found that the water sports complex is a good spot. We went back to the same location to see the performance of US team yesterday.

US team didn't give up easily. They dished out a few Disney themed songs, with the fireworks "danced" with the music. Without the interference of the rain, the music was loud and clear. That was really a feast of visual and audio. For those who had missed the show, one more chance in 2013- 2nd October 2013 (Wednesday). Besides Putrajaya Water Sports Complex, there are a few other strategic location to watch the show.

Sitting ouside is better than sitting on the stage. However, we need to bring along our umbrella, just in case of raining.

The competition is gaining its reputation. More and more people are coming to watch the show. We were caught in traffic congestion for more than 40 minutes during China team's show. The congestion turned worse during US team's show. We took more than one hour to get home. So, we might need to mentally prepare for the heavy traffic jam after the show.

It is a lengthy competition, from August to September 2013, at Putrajaya Maritime Centre. So, if you wish to grab the opportunity to see the fireworks, there are three more chances to go- 14, 15 September, and the last performance will be on 2 October 2013. The performance will start at around 10 pm, but we have to be early to get to the strategic location- Seri Saujana Bridge, Persiaran Tasik, Seri Gemilang Bridge, or along Tunku Abdul Rahman Road that facing Pullman Putrajaya. 

Putrajaya Convention Centre (PICC) is offering cocktail dinner during the competition days with RM150++ per person. Bringing sandwiches and Coke is another much cheaper and better option. By the way, watching the fireworks competition is free of charge. What you need to do is to find a transport to Putrajaya. We would like to share some photos taken last night at Persiaran Tasik.

Quiet night. 9:50 pm, everyone was holding the breath and waiting for the first spark of the fireworks. The location was strategy, with the maritime centre located at the middle of this VIP seat.

 5 minutes into the performance. Smoke could be clearly seen.

After a short rest, second part of the performance started with exploding light across the sky. The smoke from the previous bursts started to block the view.

French team leader shouted, "Send more onto the sky!!"

Then the anti-climax kicked in at the finale. When the team sent everything they had for one last final blow, the smoke took away everything but the thundering explosion. Well, zero mark for the finale.

Nope, it didn't look like 10 pm at night. The lakeside was crowded with people with sitting mats and picnic baskets.

Three more days of performance to go, and tonight, China team will take over the stage. If you still remember what Beijing had done to the opening of Olympic 2008, then you might wish to take out a map to look for the route to Putrajaya now.

Night at Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2013

We reached Seri Wawasan Bridge at Precinct 2 at around 8:30 p.m., hoping for a better view of the Night Glowing and Fireworks show. We didn't go into the carnival site anymore as we have been there in the morning. We were lucky as there was not many people there, and we successfully secured a good location for the show. Scheduled at 9 p.m., the show started only at 9:20 p.m. The show last around 20 minutes, ending with the fireworks. We would like to share our photos taken with all of you.

Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2013

Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta has entered its fifth anniversary. Well, the fiesta is now becoming an important carnival for the people around Klang Valley. For 2013, the carnival has attracted about 18 balloonists cross four continents. Previous experience, either be early, or be late. The weather in the middle of the day is a big spoiler.

This year, we went on sunrise. We reached at Putrajaya Precinct 2 fiesta site at around 8 a.m. It sounds crazy on a beautiful Saturday morning, but really, we were not among the earliest. Crowd was gathering, a thousand of them, maybe more. We were lucky to find a car park some 100 meters away from the main exhibition area. Well, car park should be ample, but if you come late (say in the evening), you might need to park your car half a kilometer away. There were 5 zones- blue, yellow, red, purple and green, assigned to the exhibition of hot air balloons, helicopter ride and bazaar area, corporate area, food and beverages area, and the extreme zone respectively. We started from the blue zone- the balloons!

8:15 a.m. visitors are waiting for their turn to board into the hot air balloons. The fee is RM25 for a ride of 5 - 10 minutes.

X'treme sports at Green Zone.

9 a.m. We need to pass through the crowd in order to move forward. Monument Alaf Baru can be seen far behind.

The para-motor show started when we were strolling around Green Zone. It was a good place to watch the show, as the para-motors were encircling Monument Alaf Baru.

We went for our breakfast around 9:15 a.m. It was hard to find a place to sit. We were not the early birds...

However, the thumbs up, the price for the local food stalls were really reasonable. In fact, we should use the word "cheap" compare to other international carnivals. Local food was available at Purple Zone.

Franchais food stalls such as KFC, Ayamas, Sushi King, A&W, and Pizza Hut were available at Red Zone. 

Some information about Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. It was held on 28th - 31st March. The entrance was free. The weather, warm in the morning and evening, hot and humid on the rest of the day. The easiest way to go to the carnival site at Precinct 2 is by car. Alternatively, you can take KLIA ERL to Putrajaya Central, then hoop into Nadi Putrajaya Bus (bus no 301, 601, 701). The bus will bring you to the carnival site. The site was really big. So a comfortable footwear might be necessary. Drinking water, sunblock, umbrella are necessary in case you are going to the site in the afternoon. Are we going to visit the fiesta again next year? Why not, if we have a Saturday with nothing official to do?

On our way back to the car park, we can see more and more people were coming to the fiesta (right). Well, if you missed a balloon ride, maybe you can buy a balloon from the vendors by the road. :)

Perdana Park Putrajaya

Not more than a big nice garden, that was all we can say about the park. It is good for a afternoon jog or a family outing. But, if you are a foreign visitor, the park should not be your first priority, unless you are staying in Shangri-La Hotel Putrajaya. Without nice view on the top of the hill, or the reflection from the nicely landscaped Putrajaya lake, Perdana Park is inferior to many other parks and gardens in Putrajaya, such as Wawasan Park, Botanical Park, and Agriculture Heritage Park.

The broad walkway that spans to the heart of the park, where the New Millennium Point stands, is the center of the park.

New Millennium Point is located at the middle of the park.

However, there are something that the garden can offer. Firstly, with a blast of trees and shrubs, flowers and vines, the garden didn't lack of any of the sense of greenery. Secondly, the jogging track, well shaded and enough to soak our sportswear. Thirdly, the megalith garden, not impressive but offer a little bit of surprise, and last but not least, several playgrounds for kids.

Car park is ample, not only for the park's visitors, but for many conference participants at Shangri-La Hotel Putrajaya.

Megalith garden filled with many megaliths. Ranged from ankle height to several feet tall, the stone garden offers some element of surprise to the first timer.

The residential area can be seen from the hill. However, the overgrown trees blocked the nice continuous view from there.

The park is located at Presinct 2 of Putrajaya. A car is the most ideal way to reach there, while Nadi Putrajaya bus service is available from Putrajaya Central. The park is located beside Shangri-La Hotel Putrajaya. So, if you have the chance to visit or stay in the hotel, you may take a walk in the park, if you have nothing better to do. There is no vendor available. Therefore food and drink have to be prepared beforehand, to quench thirst and hunger.

Three good things about the park, on top of everything mentioned, good security (at least some patrols were sighted), and very clean toilets, and good maintenance.
